The earth is a big place. There are many places on earth whose beauty and mysteries amazed us. But, there are some weird places which surprise us more. Dark forests, restricted places, abandoned cities, strange animals,  the weirdest traditions and other oddities exist in the world. So, here is the list of weird places in the Earth.

1. Lake Hillier – Western Australia

Lake Hillier is situated on the central island of the Recherche Archipelago off the coast of South Western Australia. It is particularly notable for its pink color. The reason for its unique color is still a topic that is not fully understood by scientists. Although most suspect, it has to do with the presence of the Dunaliella Salina microalgae.

2. Nazca lines – Peru


In the Peruvian Desert, the great mysteries of the world. Nazca lines are massive drawings in the soil. They are named after the ancient civilization. The lines are drawn in geometric patterns and distinct animal shapes. These figures are best seen from an airplane or surrounding foothills. Some unexplained shapes are up to 200 m in length and each one is executed in a single continuous line. It is one of the weird places that exist in the world.

3. The hand in the desert – Chile

The hand in the desert was created by renowned Chilean artist Mario Irarrazabal. It is made in the Atacama desert. The sculpture looks like a buried giant reaching out for help.

4. Chocolate Hills – Philippines

Chocolate Hills is located on the island of Bohol in the Philippines. They range in height but are so regular. The hills are spread over an area of 50 square kilometers or more. These limestones chocolate hills are covered with grass and turn chocolate color during the dry season.

5. Plain of Jars – Laos

Plain of Jars is a collection of large stone situated in Laos. The plain of jars consists of thousands of stone jars in different shapes and sizes. Archaeologists believe that they were originally used between 1500 or 2000 years ago. A working theory stated that the huge cylindrical stone jars were used in ancient funeral ceremonies.

The hill of crosses in Lithuania has been a site of Pilgrimage for 100 of years. Spread on a hilltop, hundreds of thousands of Christian crosses are raised to the sky. Socotra Island is located between the Guardufui channel and the Arabian Sea. The remote island of Socotra looks like a landscape out of a science-fiction film. The plants that grow on an island are some strange that one might think, they are on another planet. It’s been called the most Alien looking place on earth.
