There are some hikes that only daredevils and people with immense guts would attempt. Here are some of the most dangerous, challenging and thrilling hikes in the world.

1. Mount Huashan – China

Mount Huashan is situated in Huayin city. The Mountain is home to pilgrims who climb to the mountain at the summit. This trail contains vertical stairways, planks, and iron chains. You will be provided with safety at the base of the cliff, to clip into the wires and chains along the path that will prevent you from falling down. This route is definitely full thrilling hike in the world. The route is one of the most dangerous and thrilling hikes in the world.

2. Huayna Picchu – Peru

Huayna Picchu is a mountain in Peru. It rises over Machu Picchu, the so-called lost city of the Incas. Thousands of visitors dare to travel the ancient Inca trails on the edge of fearsome cliffs. It’s quite an extreme set of stairs, reaching an angle of over 60 degrees at some point which feels more like climbing a ladder. The descent is not less difficult and is a matter of concentration.

3. Via Ferrata

Via Ferrata also known as the iron way which is protected climbing route to the top of the mountain using permanently installed rope ladders, bridges, and wires. It is found in the Alps and certain other locations. Each component provides a safety and enables to attach yourself to the rock.  The dangerous parts of the hike include the rock faces and the tall ledges that you have to scale to complete the hike.

The Kalalau Trail is a beautiful, difficult and dangerous located on the coast of the island of Kauai in Hawaii. The trail is narrow with plenty of slippery mud. A single slip on this part of the trail can lead to the death. The narrow trails including the crawlers ledge on the cliffs that drop a few hundred feet into the ocean.

6. Half Dome – California

Half Dome is a granite dome in Yosemite National Park, California. It is popular for the rock formation. The two metal cables allow the hiker to climb the summit without rock climbing equipment. The climb is so steep that wearing gloves is a must. The cable route is difficult when climbing up and down. It is also one of the most challenging and thrilling hikes.

7. Kalavantin Durg – India

Kalavantin Durg is located near Mumbai. One of its most impressive features is the zigzag stairs carved into the edges of a rocky mountain. There are no railing on the edge and no ropes to support the climb. The steps are slippery and muddy. The hardest part of it is coming down. This is not for the faint-hearted or those who fear of heights.
